The 6th Annual Toast in Portland

The Oregon Distillers Guild Presents the 6th Annual TOAST: The Original Artisan Spirits Tasting

February 27, 2016 — 4pm-10pm (3pm-11pm for VIP’s)

The 6th Annual Toast event is an opportunity to taste from a wide variety of over 120 spirits from across the Northwest, the Country and the Globe. Whether your spirit preference is Whiskey, Rum, Gin, Vodka, Tequila, Brandy, Liqueurs – or even unique spirits like Absinthe and Aquavit – the estimated 40 distillers and producers at TOAST will have it covered. TOAST allows small distillers and producers to showcase their handcrafted spirits, while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the diversity and quality of craft spirits from Oregon and beyond.

This year’s TOAST features 5 of Portland’s best chefs. Each chef will offer a selection of small bites throughout the evening. It’s all included in your ticket price while supplies last.

Participating Restaurants include: Bellino Trattoria SicilianaLechonPok PokSmallwaresSwank and Swine

This year’s TOAST will be located at the Really Big Video event space in the Pearl District at 539 NW 10th. We strongly encourage taking public transportation. The MAX and street cars both have stops very near the venue. There is also plenty of space for bikes. If you do drive, there are various parking lots and garages within the Pearl.

Tickets are $45 for General Admission and $65 for VIP.

Distilling Appreciation Classes Recap

Thanks again to everyone who participated in our first series of Craft Distilling Appreciation Classes. More than twenty spirits enthusiasts in two different tracts learned about the ins-and-outs of craft and small-batch distilling at New Deal Distillery, Stone Barn Brandyworks, and House Spirits. Tastings, including samples at different points in the distilling process (heads or tails everyone?) were shared throughout, along with explanations as to why and how the flavors came to be at that point. Tiki drinks were sampled at Deco (now Eastside Distilling) at the end of the first Sunday session. And the whole event finished with a stellar range of hand-made cocktails at House Spirits. If you missed this first set of classes, don’t worry we will definitely be offering them again!

Craft Distilling Appreciation Classes

Portland’s Distillery Row is presenting a hands-on, tasting-oriented series of classes over a two day period in the winter of 2012. Participants will have an opportunity to get an inside look at Row distilleries, meet the distillers, and learn about the process of making artisanal spirits from them.

  • Sunday February 12, 2012, from 10-4
  • Sunday February 19, 2012, from 10-4

The two day course will span two consecutive Sundays with participants traveling between the distilleries to learn about such topics as:

  • Orientation to distillery equipment and distillation processes
  • Barreling and aging spirits
  • Fermentation & basic mash techniques
  • Making the cut and proofing of spirits
  • Mixology

The classes will focus on the sensory aspects of craft distilling and are intended to appeal to both those with technical interests, as well as those who simply appreciate spirits and want to understand the spirit-making process better. Participants will be exposed to the nuances of making such spirits as gin, vodka, whiskies, rum, and brandies & liqueurs.

Following the final session, we’ll repair to the Rum Club for a Happy Hour, featuring Distillery Row cocktails, as well as mixing and mingling with the distillers.

Registration is now closed.
